I was first drawn to yoga in my early 20’s as an antidote to a stressful time in my life. I actually felt the sensations of my mind quieting down, even if very momentarily to start with. As my practice became more regular I noticed massive improvement in my quality of sleep and overall wellness.
As an over thinker and a bit of a worrier, yoga has become a valuable tool for relaxation and calming my mind. I know it’s something I can turn to whenever needed.
The decision to teach felt like a natural extension of being a student myself, I will always be a student, always learning about myself and the wider practice of yoga, and this is what I want to pass on to people I teach – ‘Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self’ Bhagvad Gita.
I love teaching Vinyasa and I gained my 200 hours teaching certificate in this style. However, recently my attention has been drawn to Yin yoga, where I have completed further 100 hours of training in this wonderful, nurturing practice. I love how well the practices of Vinyasa and Yin fit together – perfect Yang and Yin.
I teach because I want others to feel the benefits of yoga that I have felt, whether in the physical body, or de-stressing the mind, or calming the nervous system, the best part is that anyone can do yoga and I really do believe it can be so beneficial to everyone… You just need to give it a go! 🙂
I’ve been practicing yoga, off and on, for 40 years and Jo is probably the best teacher I’ve ever had. She has brought renewed vitality, depth and enjoyment to my practice.
My one-to-one classes with Jo are some of the best hours of my week! Each time it’s something new – with her carefully planned flow routines she keeps it fresh and challenging in different ways each class. There’s always something new to learn, some well observed correction that brings new insight to a posture.
She creates a yoga experience that is the perfect balance between being meditative and restorative, but at the same time being physically challenging and mentally wholly absorbing.
The hour flies by and afterwards, I always feel reinvigorated and ready to face the world recharged and calmed. I notice that my strength, balance and suppleness have all substantially improved in the year that we’ve been practicing together and I’m more mindful about my posture, thanks to her guidance.
